Are you curious about how much a case of beer costs in every US state in 2023? The prices of goods and services have been on the rise, and beer is no exception. The team at Alcohol Delivered conducted a study to determine the cost of a case of beer in every US state.

- The state with the most expensive beer is Alaska at $33.62 a case.
- The top 5 cheapest states to buy a case of beer are Illinois at $16.43, North Carolina at $17.30, South Carolina at $17.30, New York at $16.72, and Kansas at $17.30.
- The top 5 most expensive states to buy a case of beer are Alaska, with an average cost of $33.62, followed by Tennessee at $24.03, Montana at $24.06, Vermont at $23.25, and Pennsylvania at $23.21.
To gather data on beer prices, we collected prices for a 24-pack of Bud Light and Miller Lite from national or regional retailers in up to 10 zip codes in each state. We selected these specific beers and quantities because of their popularity across the country.
We intentionally included a mix of urban and rural zip codes in each state to represent different parts of the state. To calculate the average price of the two beers, we added the prices together and rounded to the nearest cent.
It’s important to note that the prices we collected only reflect the prices from the retailers and don’t include any additional taxes or fees, like recycling fees.

In 2023, inflation has been a major issue for many people. The prices of goods and services have risen sharply, making it difficult for households to make ends meet. Even a simple pleasure like enjoying a beer has become more expensive. In the past, it was easy to purchase a case of beer for just $8 to $10 in the United States. However, inflation and a cost of living crisis, beer costs are now rising.
